Here’s what you said:
Drink skim or 1% milk!
- 85.7% of you know that milk is the best choice for teens to drink in order to get the most nutrients and protein for their growing bodies. However, less than 1/2 of you seem to know that drinking skim or 1% milk is the best choice when it comes to getting all the same nutrition, but not getting all the artery clogging FAT that you get when drinking whole milk!
Energy Drinks are useless!
- 96% of you know that having a glass of milk and eating a peanut butter sandwich before an athletic event will give you more energy than drinking an energy drink! Wow, good to hear! The milk and peanut butter sandwich will provide energy for 3 or more hours, whereas the energy drink will provide energy for about 45 minutes or less!
- The bad news is though, 68% of you believe that at least 50% of Garrett County high school students drank at least 1 energy drink in the past 30 days! Energy drinks provide little to know nutrition and are high in caffeine, sugar and calories! Useless!
Eat Breakfast!
- 92% of you said that Garrett County high school students most likely skip breakfast on a daily basis! Wow, that’s not good! Skipping breakfast often leads to overeating later in the day when students are less active, which then leads to overweight and obesity issues among teens! By eating breakfast you jump start your body’s ability to burn calories and provide your body with fuel, which allows oxygen to go to your brain to help you think better and be more alert!
