As promised, here are some of the comments you made about underage drinking on the February survey:
- “Stay away from alcohol. It can tear families apart faster than you can fix them. My dad is proof.” (9th grader)
- “Alcohol has not played a serious role in my life. I am thankful that my close friends and family do not abuse alcohol nor pressure me to drink. However, I know this isn’t the case for everyone, but I think it is important for kids to stay strong against peer pressure and to not drink.” (12th grader)
- “Anyone at my age can get alcohol from anywhere they want. People buy it for them.” (11th grader)
- “Alcohol is kept in my house in the fridge usually. But my mom had talked with me about the consequences of drinking.” (9th grader)
Wise words from you wise people. Thanks for sharing your opinions. Here’s another take-home message – every day you get to make choices. Some are very minor choices like what color socks to wear. Some are pretty heavy choices like whether to ride with someone who’s been drinking. Do what’s best for you.
